Buddy, yes you. You and I are the best definition of failure. We are the best descriptions of tools that have forsaken their creator and tried to define their purpose by standards that suit them. That is simply what we are. You and I are a disgrace to the community, male society and worst of all, the body of Christ. Call it what you want to call it, condemnation or whatever you wish to. You will soon discover that it is an endless battle of terms but the agenda is that you get the point. It is because of the existence of men like you and me that love is considered a ghost because so many people talk about it but a few have seen it. Simply because of men like you and me that love is considered a word that people use when they want something. So are we victims or the perpetrators? It is because of men like you and me that ladies no longer believe that guys with good hearts exist. Guys who do not give with strings attached. To them, the only free things that exist is free Wi-Fi (which is not free on close scrutiny) and things from up above. The same ladies are now deeply convinced that the only men who want the best for them in this world are their dads. The world can now lay all the blame on us. Guilty as charged. Lust…lust…lust. Does it even last? In God’s kingdom, does it make me first or last? Does it put the rest’s interest first or last? Lust…lust…lust, one of man’s greatest battles. It has made us portray a wrong and misguided image of God’s loveto innocentsouls. Men like you and me.
It is because of men like you and me that some ladies have ended up wetting their pillows overnight. Made them make resolutions that will safeguard them the next time they come across men like you and me. We have madethem resolve to trust less and hurt more. It is all because of men like you and me. Who is to blame? Chances are that once or twice or even a couple times in their life they have come across a guy like you and me. To them, they are more than convinced that “all men are the same”. It is because of men like you and me that I dread having a daughter. I dread having to nurse her broken heart after being played by men like you and me. Men, who lead on ladies, show them a world full of possibilities together but disappear at the mere pronunciation of commitment.
It is undeniable that words like ‘side chick’, ‘player’, ‘one night stand’,’cheating’ have gained meaning due to the existence of men like you and me. Made ladies master the art of giving more of their bodies and less of their hearts. They know that emotional hurt cannot be compared to physical hurt in any way. It is on another scope, another level, where the only remedy is time but no assurance that it will get better, it might even get worse. Who is to blame? Men like you and me. Men who fall at the sight of short skirts and exposed cleavages. Men who feel that they have stood out when they count the number of ladies they have taken to bed while in real sense they have fallen. Men who will always use the phrase ‘my soul is willing but my body is weak’ asa maskto hide their flaws. Men who will never live up to their mistakes and often suggest abortion to ladies they have impregnated just to protect their image.
Who needs redemption? Is it the ladies or men like you and me? Do these innocent souls need saving from men like you and me or is it men like you and me who need redemption from the Saviour? I have now come to believe…to believe that until a man finds Christ he will ruin every lady he comes across. To believe that a man is not his character, ideals, self-esteem, principles, achievements, intellect, empathy, sympathy, standards, charm; none of these all. A man is his heart. To fathom perfection, where is your heart fellow man?
James 3:2 “We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.”
Luke 6:5 “For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
So where is your heart?
Dear men like you and me,
Let the words “I love you” move you even before you say them to her; because each time you say them, you add a stone to the castle she dreams in her heart. Each time you say them, she sees a happy ever after, a dream come true. Love is defined as trusting the other person with everything they need to destroy you but trusting that they will not. She has given you her heart, do not trade it with hurt. Do not be a lesson she will need to learn.
I am not a perfect man and it takes a supernatural love to even understand. I have failed. I am a mess but you still think I am worth it. My prayer is that you help me and men like me, reflect this love to the world. Your love that does not expect anything in return but gives selflessly. Your love that does not seek to prove itself, that which does not pressure and demand for explanations; but loves unconditionally. Mold us O Lord. Mold me and men like me, O God, even if it hurts.
